“Postal – The Movie” Finally Ready for DVD Delivery
Vivendi Set to Release on August 26th
by Bill “The Game Doctor” Kunkel

When most Running With Scissors fans (not to mention RWS itself) first learned that Uwe Boll would be the auteur de farce helming the cinematic version of the beloved POSTAL video game franchise, there was much fear, loathing and gnashing of teeth in the land. Now, long after that fateful announcement, after years of anxiety, consternation and Uwe punching out internet film critics, “Postal – The Movie” has had its theatrical run and, for the first time in his career, the “Raging” Boll received not just positive but actual rave reviews in newspapers and on film and game sites as well as scoring high marks during several film festival screenings. (The unforgettable opening sequence alone has been viewed well over two million times on YouTube.)

Turns out comedy and scathing social satire was right where the director belonged all along. And in the PC-bashing world of POSTAL, he found his perfect vehicle. The film, based primarily on the POSTAL 2 storyline, stars Zack “Scut Farkis” Ward as the Postal Dude along with Dave “NewsRadio” Foley, Larry “Soup Nazi” Thomas and Verne “Mini-Me” Troyer. Fans will also get a kick out of cameos by RWS kingpin Vince “Krotchy” Desi and Uwe Boll as the lederhosen clad proprietor of a Bavarian, crypto-Nazi theme park.

The film has something to both offend and induce my-stomach-hurts level hilarity in virtually any viewer. But whether you’re shocked by Dave Foley’s protruding manhood, scandalized by a scene depicting George W. Bush look-alike Brent Mendenhall and Osama Bin-Laden (Larry Thomas) skipping hand-in-hand through a spring meadow or rocking with laughter at the image of Verne Troyer (as himself) being violated by a room full of monkeys, this movie has something to drop the jaw and crack a smile on even the most cynical face.

Unfortunately, “Postal”’s limited theatrical release left a lot of fans out in the cold. Fortunately, Vivendi has officially announced its DVD rollout on August 26th, with an expected retail price around $26.99. Extras include a Uwe commentary, deleted scenes, special features (“Raging Boll” and an Indiana Jones spoof starring Troyer) along with a copy of the PC version of POSTAL 2 as well as POSTAL 2: Share the Pain. A Blu-ray edition (with identical extras) will also be available to play on your PS3 or other Blu-ray DVD for $34.99.

“We’re strongly encouraging fans to buy this DVD,” explained Vince Desi. “You don’t get the games if you rent the movie. What’s worse, RWS doesn’t see a penny on rentals. Besides, the Postal Movie on DVD means EVERYONE will have the opportunity to see it, even Usama Bin-Laden from his cave will want to see this masterpiece-not of film."

The DVD will be available at a wide range of retail outlets, including Walmart, Best Buy, Borders, Amazon, Hastings, AAFES and Virgin.

“Postal” is a must-see for all fans of the POSTAL games and is perhaps best described by its own tagline: “Some comedies go too far… others start there.”

‘POSTAL’ is sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll and the best crazy gameplay there is … hell yeah!
